BabyTron: The Detroit Rapper Behind Tron Cena

BabyTron (born James Edward Johnson IV on June 6, 2000) is an American rapper from Ypsilanti, Michigan — part of Metro Detroit's thriving underground rap scene. Known for his razor-sharp wordplay, pop-culture references, and prolific output, he is one of the most distinctive voices to emerge from Detroit rap in the 2020s.

Rise to Prominence

BabyTron launched his YouTube channel in August 2017 and began recording music seriously in 2018. His breakthrough came with the 2019 mixtape BIN Reaper, which featured Lil Yachty on the lead single "Jesus Shuttlesworth" — a track that went viral and introduced him to audiences beyond Detroit.

He is a founding member of ShittyBoyz, a hip-hop collective that also includes StereoVision and TrDee. The group's irreverent name, humorous approach, and high-volume output have earned them a fiercely loyal following.

XXL Freshman and Growing Recognition

In June 2022, BabyTron was named to the prestigious XXL Freshman Class — one of hip-hop's most recognized annual honors for emerging artists. In 2024, he was featured on the song "Equilibrium" alongside G Herbo for Lyrical Lemonade's All Is Yellow album. His net worth as of 2025 is estimated at approximately $2 million.

Social Media and Persona

BabyTron maintains an active presence on X (formerly Twitter) under the handle @_babytron, where he changed his display name to "TRON CENA" around the release of the tribute track. He also posts on Instagram and TikTok. With over 88,000 followers on X and 1 million Instagram followers, his platform continues to grow rapidly.
